Emma completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology at the University of British Columbia in 2019, where she focused her studies on increasing accessibility to exercise and leisure activities for people of all abilities. She worked in the fields of recreation and inclusive education before returning to the University of British Columbia to complete her Master of Occupational Therapy. As part of her training, she completed placements in vocational rehabilitation, neuro-rehabilitation, pediatrics, mental health, and acute care settings.
Across these settings, Emma gained skills in administering functional and cognitive assessments to determine appropriate rehabilitation plans, task modifications, education, and equipment needs for individuals recovering from physical and mental health conditions. She also has experience with hospital discharge planning and home modifications and adaptations. Emma is passionate about empowering individuals so they can engage in meaningful, daily activities. In her spare time, Emma enjoys spending time with her friends, playing board games, kayaking, and going for walks in nature.
